Klepper, Hahn and Hyatt is seeking a part-time administrative/marketing assistant to provide ongoing administrative support to Principals and technical staff as requested to support firm objectives. This includes, but is not limited to, photocopying, scanning, and filing; performing research; and assisting in the planning of meetings, presentations, and other events or special projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop & write copy for promotional and informational marketing materials including, but not limited to, brochures, social media and website.
  • Write, edit and proofread technical documents for spelling, grammar, and layout, making appropriate changes. Responsible for accuracy and clarity of final copy.
  • Maintain and update various administrative databases, logs, and calendars.
  • Create and edit the design and layout of firm graphics, photos, artwork, and content for presentation materials, advertisements, award submissions, and other firm materials.
  • Coordinate submission teams and create and refine materials for Request for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), and award submissions.
  • Assist with digital marketing efforts including website updates, constant contact upkeep, newsletter creation and distribution, and social media. Promote awareness regarding KHH and its various services via the website, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Answer incoming calls and route calls to appropriate person as needed.
  • Greet and acknowledge visitors in a timely, hospitable and friendly manner.
  • Handle the receipt, sorting, and distribution of incoming mail and packages, while also preparing and dispatching outgoing correspondence and shipments via mail or delivery service.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, a college degree is preferred.
  • At least two years previous admin and marketing experience.
  • Computer proficiency, including Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat.

Salary:  $21.00-23.00/hour

Klepper, Hahn & Hyatt has an immediate need for an experienced Civil Engineer in the areas of site development and stormwater management. KHH’s site engineering and landscape architecture work spans the residential, commercial and institutional sectors. Our experiences encompass all aspects of planning and implementation for subdivisions, campuses, commercial development, solar arrays, green infrastructure projects, sports & recreational facilities, and landscape design.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare SWPPPs with hydrology calculations and erosion & sediment control plans.
  • Prepare construction plans and specifications, including the design of potable water and sanitary sewer facilities, stormwater infrastructure, land grading, driveways, sidewalks, etc.
  • Complete engineering studies and reports for water, sanitary sewer, or stormwater projects.
  • Prepare SEQR documentation and municipal permit applications.
  • Provide office-based construction support with occasional field visits. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or similar field.
  • Professional Engineer license is required.
  • Familiarity with CAD and computer hydrology programs is preferable.
  • Must be proficient in a Windows environment, including word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
  • Must be able to perform work in both an office and construction environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, capable of managing time well and possesses the ability to interact professionally with all those associated with the project.

Pay is up to $105,000 per year.

Klepper, Hahn and Hyatt is seeking a structural engineer to join our structural engineering department. The ideal candidate will be a licensed engineer with a strong interest in structural engineering of buildings and architectural design and is committed to professional growth and excellence. Growth potential is significant and will be based on the candidate’s abilities and ambitions.

Essential Functions:

  • Analysis and design of structural steel, concrete, masonry, cold-formed steel, and wood-framed structures in conformance with governing building codes and design standards
  • Condition assessments of existing building structures, facades, and parking structures and preparation of reports
  • Investigation of structural failures and preparation of reports
  • Development of repair and rehabilitation projects including parking garages, facades, and other structures
  • Collaboratively work with other project team members to prepare contract documents
  • Preparation of technical specifications
  • Coordination of work with engineers of other disciplines, architects, and contractors
  • Perform construction administration phase services (submittal review, respond to RFl’s, conduct site visits, etc.)
  • Development of construction cost estimates for structural work
  • Review work prepared by less-experienced engineering staff

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university located in the United States of America
  • 3+ years of experience in the design of building structures
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Structural Engineer (S.E.) preferred but not required
  • Proficiency with current industry software, including RISA, Enercalc, TEDDS, AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Valid driver’s license

The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the project manager and project team with project documentation and control, job cost accounting, scheduling, and construction supervision efforts. In order to be successful, this candidate should feel comfortable taking on many tasks that require various skills, and appropriately prioritizing those tasks’ completion.

Pay is up to $105,000 per year.

Under direct supervision, the student will perform routine tasks and work on a wide variety of projects gaining a well-rounded learning experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist on projects under direct supervision of engineering professionals as well as other engineering disciplines.
  • Collaboratively work with other project team members to prepare construction documents.
  • Attend meetings and learn from listening, asking questions, and discussion.
  • Perform calculations, analysis, design, and detailing as directed.
  • Prepare drawings or designs using CAD to complete assignments of specific portions of projects or converting hand drawings and concepts into CAD files.
  • Aid in the review of shop drawings and/or submittals as directed.
  • Conduct research as directed into areas of building code, building materials, or design.
  • Participate in site visits and field inspections to gather data and assess project conditions as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Landscape Architecture or related field with knowledge and interest in building and or landscape design.
  • Students must be organized, self-motivated, and dependable.
  • Strong academic performance in relevant coursework.
  • Excellent and professional communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and within a group setting.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Some experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office desired.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The type of work and character of duties involve the coordination of manual dexterity and normal mental and visual attention. The visual requirements of this job include close vision, color vision, ability to use binoculars, and the ability to adjust focus.

Activities of this position include handling, seeing, hearing, sitting, crawling, talking and working on a computer or drafting table for long periods of time. Duties will also include frequently lifting and/or moving 10 pounds and occasionally 20 to 30 pounds of documents, drawings, boxes or equipment.

Mental requirements include but are not limited to the ability to concentrate, take initiative, cope with stress, adapt and stay alert in a busy business and/or construction environment and to use best judgement when completing reports and making calculations to be reviewed by others.

This position will be working primarily indoors and some of the time in an outdoor environment. From this movement, the employee will encounter varying temperatures. The noise level on the project site work environment can be high but is low in the office environment.
